Everest Circuit, Nepal, October 2015
Kathmandu – Lukla
The Everest Circuit could be described as one of the ‘classic’ treks of the Everest region (Sagamartha National Park) of Nepal. It is 17 days of actual walking. Starting from Lukla to Namche Bazaar (trekking the lower reaches of the Khumbu Valley), then up the Gokyo Valley to Gokyo village, then across the Ngozumpa glacier and up and over the Cho La Pass, 5420m, to the village of Gorak Shep, 5140m (plus Kalapathar Peak, 5550m, Everest Base Camp, 5354m, and views of Mount Everest). From Gorak Shep one returns to Namche via the upper reaches of the Khumbu Valley, then backtracking to Lukla for the flight to Kathmandu.
